Modelmaking
We’ve built and finessed existing commercial kits and designed our own character models, for stop-motion animation, and character exploration. Painted weathered effects, added lights, and use of different textures and materials can make these scaled-down forms look like the real thing!
Model Kits
An existing commercial kit, this is the Master Grade Mobile Pod Ball. Paint has been used here to simulate rust, scratches and weathering. We’ve also added tiny LED lights, drilling minute holes in the form to position and glue them in. These additions and techniques can enhance these models for amazing in-camera effects!
Character Models
For our own productions, we generate 3D versions of our 2D characters, to better understand character forms as a tangible reference for animation. We also make models for clients if the final character will be made as a physical product, like a toy or sculpted object.
